Collagen Strips vs Collagen Powder: What Each One Gives You
Collagen powder is measured in grams, and clinical studies of collagen peptides for skin have used intakes of 2.5 g a day and above (Proksch et al., 2014). A BEAUTÉ oral dissolvable strip from Smart Strips contains 20 mg of hydrolysed marine collagen, so if your goal is a large daily dose of collagen, powder is the right tool, and we would rather tell you that here than have you find out later.
BEAUTÉ is built for a different job. It is a daily beauty ritual that dissolves on the tongue in 7 to 30 seconds, and its real strength sits in three vitamins: biotin at 200% NRV, vitamin A at 125% NRV and vitamin E at 25% NRV. Hyaluronic acid and marine collagen complete the formula as supporting ingredients. Below, the two formats side by side, with the trade-offs left in.

01
How much collagen is in a collagen strip?
One BEAUTÉ strip contains 20 mg of hydrolysed marine collagen and 10 mg of hyaluronic acid.
Twenty milligrams is a small number next to a scoop of powder, and there is a physical reason for it. An oral dissolvable strip is a thin film on a pullulan base, and it has to stay thin enough to melt on the tongue within seconds. Grams of protein do not fit into a film that light. Any strip that promises powder-level collagen per serving deserves a careful look at its label.
We print the 20 mg openly because the figure changes how you should read the product. A meta-analysis of 26 randomised trials looked at oral collagen taken at 0.6 to 12 g a day (Pu et al., 2023), and a 20 mg serving should not be expected to do what studies at those amounts have examined. In the EU there is no authorised health claim for collagen; when EFSA assessed a collagen peptide product for skin elasticity, it concluded that a cause and effect relationship “has not been established” (EFSA, 2013). Collagen is part of the character of BEAUTÉ, a marine ingredient that belongs in a beauty formula. The authorised wordings belong to the vitamins.
02
What does BEAUTÉ do for skin and hair?

BEAUTÉ is a vitamin-led formula, and each of its three vitamins is present in a meaningful amount per strip:
- Biotin, 100 µg (200% NRV). Biotin contributes to the maintenance of normal hair. Biotin contributes to the maintenance of normal skin.
- Vitamin A, 1000 µg (125% NRV). Vitamin A contributes to the maintenance of normal skin.
- Vitamin E as tocopheryl acetate, 3 mg (25% NRV). Vitamin E contributes to the protection of cells from oxidative stress.
These are the wordings authorised in the EU, used exactly as approved. They are modest on purpose. Biotin and vitamin A both carry an approved link to normal skin, and vitamin E covers the antioxidant side.
Hyaluronic acid (10 mg) and marine collagen (20 mg) sit alongside them. Research has looked at oral hyaluronic acid in relation to skin at much higher doses: a 12-week placebo-controlled trial in 60 adults used 120 mg a day, twelve times the amount in a strip (Oe et al., 2017). We describe both as supporting ingredients, never as the reason the product works.
Many collagen powders are sold on collagen alone. Some add vitamin C or biotin, many add nothing. Compare labels line by line when you choose.

04
When is collagen powder the better choice?
Choose powder when the amount of collagen is the point. If you are following a routine modelled on studies that used several grams a day, a strip will not replace it, and no strip format can.
Powder also wins on protein. Ten grams of collagen peptides add ten grams of protein to your day. A strip is not a protein source and does not try to be.
And powder suits people who already have a fixed morning ritual at home. If the smoothie happens every day anyway, one more scoop costs nothing.
05
When does a beauty strip make more sense?

When the hard part is doing it every day.
Picture the tub on the kitchen shelf. It works on calm weekday mornings. It does not travel to a three-day conference, it does not fit in a clutch, and on the morning you leave the house at seven it stays where it is. Most supplement routines fail on logistics, and a beauty routine built on vitamins only does its work if you keep taking them.
BEAUTÉ removes the logistics. The sachet is light and compact and lives in your handbag. You need nothing to mix it with, and it is sugar-free. Taking the strip out and placing it on your tongue takes about seven seconds, what we call the 7-second ritual, and it dissolves in 7 to 30 seconds. You can take it in a taxi, at your desk or in a hotel room with the same result.
The format also suits people who dislike the texture of collagen drinks. There is nothing to stir and nothing to finish.
06
How does an oral dissolvable strip deliver its ingredients?
The strip dissolves on the tongue, and part of each dose is absorbed through the lining of the mouth. Under the tongue that lining is only 100 to 200 µm thick (Hua, 2019), and the oral mucosa is described as “4-4000 times more permeable than that of skin” (Patel et al., 2011). For the portion absorbed this way, first-pass metabolism in the liver is significantly reduced. The rest is swallowed with saliva and absorbed like any other supplement. Medicine uses the same route for some molecules: selegiline in a form that dissolves in the mouth reaches its peak in 10 to 15 minutes, against 40 to 90 minutes for the swallowed tablet (ZELAPAR prescribing information). For the Smart Strips QuickRelease™ format, the brand works with three figures: up to 95% bioavailability, up to 4x faster absorption, up to 30% higher effectiveness.
A note of caution, in the same spirit as the rest of this page. Those figures describe the format, and we make no claim that collagen peptides are absorbed through the lining of the mouth. Nor do we claim that the strip format turns 20 mg of collagen into more than 20 mg. The format’s value for BEAUTÉ lies in the daily habit and in the vitamins.
07
Who should not take BEAUTÉ?

BEAUTÉ contains hydrolysed marine collagen from fish. It is not suitable for people with a fish allergy, and it is not vegan or vegetarian.
It also contains vitamin A at 125% NRV. If you take another supplement with vitamin A, a multivitamin for example, add the amounts together before combining them. Consult your doctor if you are pregnant, nursing, taking medication or have a medical condition.
08
How to take BEAUTÉ
Place one strip on your tongue and let it dissolve. No water is needed. One strip a day, ideally at the same moment each day, so it becomes part of a routine you already have: after brushing your teeth, before your first meeting, at the end of a skincare step.
If you also use collagen powder, nothing stops you from combining the two. The powder covers collagen in grams, the strip covers the vitamins and the habit.
09
Frequently asked questions
Is 20 mg of collagen enough?
Not if you want a large collagen intake. Human studies have used grams per day, from 0.6 to 12 g in the trials pooled by one meta-analysis (Pu et al., 2023). In BEAUTÉ, collagen is a supporting ingredient; biotin, vitamin A and vitamin E carry the formula.
Can I take BEAUTÉ with collagen powder?
Yes. They do different jobs. Check your total vitamin A if you also take a multivitamin.
Is BEAUTÉ vegan?
No. BEAUTÉ contains hydrolysed marine collagen from fish. No collagen supplement is vegan, since collagen comes from animal sources.
Does BEAUTÉ contain sugar?
No. BEAUTÉ is sugar-free and sweetened with stevia.
How fast does a collagen strip dissolve?
A BEAUTÉ oral dissolvable strip dissolves on the tongue in 7 to 30 seconds. No water is needed.
What in BEAUTÉ supports skin and hair?
Biotin is at 200% NRV: biotin contributes to the maintenance of normal hair, and biotin contributes to the maintenance of normal skin. Vitamin A (125% NRV) contributes to the maintenance of normal skin. Vitamin E (25% NRV) contributes to the protection of cells from oxidative stress.
BEAUTÉ comes in boxes of 30 oral dissolvable strips. You will find the full formula and label on the BEAUTÉ page. If you are building a longer daily ritual, our comparison of NMN strips and NMN capsules follows the same honest approach.
